Groundbreaking for LAFC’s Brand New Stadium

One of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) expansion leagues, the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), will break ground on its new stadium in South Los Angeles on Tues, Aug 23, 2016 at 10am PT.

The stadium (no sponsorship name announced yet) will be located next to historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum which closed earlier this year.

LAFC announced plans for the new stadium in May, 2015.  The venue will be accessible via public transportation, including the LA Metro Rail with a stop on the extended Expo line.

The vision of the stadium and its surrounding areas will include restaurants, office space, a conference center and a soccer museum.  It has been designed by LA-based architectural firm Gensler.
