While staying at the Bayfront Hilton this past July, I wandered down to the parking lot, and out the back and across the street to the local Publix Super Market parking lot, where is located the American Spirits liquor store.
I was looking to purchase a number of local Florida alcoholic beverages, which I cannot find in my home state of Massachusetts, in particular the products of the St. Petersburg Distillery.
The first time I wandered in, the local employees/hipsters were discussing Funky Buddha - a good sign!
I visited again a week later, and there was someone giving a wine tasting, but when he saw me he had me pegged immediately as a beer guy (big fat middle aged bearded dude = beer snob) and offered me a taste test of Unity Vibration's kombucha beer. Yummy!
St. Pete Distillery makes a very nice, smooth, and drinkable vodka; their gin, whiskey, and spiced rum are very nice as well.
I also noticed, when walking about downtown St. Pete, a place called Detroit Liquors, associated with Jannus Landing/Jannus Live, but I did not step inside; will have to check it out next time.
Below I am listing some Youtube videos of St. Pete Distillery, as well as some other distilleries in the Tampa Bay Area that I have not tried yet: Kozuba & Sons, in St. Pete, and Florida Cane Distillery in Tampa.
On a later visit to St. Pete I will have to check out the many local brew pubs and microbreweries in the city, which will be worth its own blog post eventually; for now, I will focus on the local distilleries.
Also including some videos of downtown St. Pete, St. Pete neighborhoods, and a few other random St. Pete tourist oriented videos.

Florida Cane Distillery moves to Ybor City
CityofTampa

Craft breweries are popping up all over the Tampa Bay region. The rise of locally brewed beer has helped other "home grown" beverage makers to see that there is a market for their products too. In Ybor City, the entrepreneurial team of Lee Nelson and Pat O'Brien are capitalizing on the made in Tampa movement by making vodka. Brenda Thrower attended the grand opening celebration of the duo's distillery and filed this report.

Riding on a Trolley around Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida
gatorpics09
Published on Mar 16, 2016
St. Petersburg is home to more than 100 neighborhoods,[77] with most of the historic districts are located near the waterfront.[78] In the eastern center of the city is Downtown St. Petersburg, which includes the cities residential and commercial skyscrapers, art galleries, museums, and parks.[79] The downtown area is home the central business district to many start-up companies, corporation branches, banks, law firms, and restaurants.[citation needed] Apart from downtown's business and cultural aesthetics, the area resides a branch of St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.[79] Finally, the downtown district is home to two professional sports teams, the Tampa Bay Rays who reside west of downtown at Tropicana Field, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies who are located downtown at Al Lang Stadium.[79]
North of Downtown St. Petersburg lies Historic Old Northeast and Snell Isle, both are a place of residence to Mediterranean style historic and waterfront homes, parks, and recreational areas.[80][81] Old Northeast is also home to a shopping district, city landmarks, beaches, and small shops as well as small residential high rises.[80] Snell Isle however was founded by C. Perry Snell who bought up the land to develop upscale properties in the 1900s, and helped create some of St. Petersburg's resorts such as the Vinoy Park Hotel and the St. Petersburg Woman's Club;[82] both of which are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.[83]
The western side of St. Petersburg includes the Grand Central District and Historic Kenwood. The Grand Central District houses the cities cafes, art galleries, restaurants, and bars all owing to the Renaissance style architecture.[84][85] Whilst in Historic Kenwood is filled with art studios and galleries similarly to the Grand Central District.[86]
Southward to St. Petersburg is Historic Roser Park, which houses Mediterranean style housing, parks, and museums.[87] The neighborhood is divided by Booker Creek which flows into Bayboro Harbor.
