Jack Blake: The Life Of A Professional Soccer Player - Episode 3

Jack Blake

Published on Mar 7, 2018

I usually go back to Nottingham in England every December once the season has finished in November. In this video I will show you a typical off season training session with Johnny Wilson and Paulina Czubacka back in my hometown. Johnny is the Head Physio at Chesterfield FC and Paulina is a Sports Rehabilitator at Notts County FC.

The off season is a crucial period of time for a professional soccer player. Initially, our bodies would need sufficient rest for the first couple of weeks to recuperate from the previous season. But then just as important, we need to ensure our bodies are prepared for the upcoming season. It also gives us ample time to develop and become a stronger, more durable athlete.

I hope you all enjoy! Let me know in the comments below what you would like to see in the upcoming videos.

Professional Soccer Coming to Akron

A new organization is being formed to bring professional soccer to the Akron area. The Rubber City Football Club plans to hit the field in the spring of 2019. Founded by Team President Joshua Austin, the club is currently negotiating field use contracts to bring the game to the downtown area.

While first and foremost a sports team, the Rubber City Football Club aims to be much more for the greater Akron area. “The overall mission of the team will be to create a culture of acceptance and giving back to our town. Community projects, ticket drives, partnerships with cultural and service organizations, youth camps and more, specifically targeting the inner city is part of our overall game plan,” said President Joshua Austin. “Our goal is to have an even greater impact to our community off the field than on!”

Northeast Ohio is famous for loving its sports teams, and its ability to bring the community together. “Announcing our plans on March 12th was no accident,” said Austin. March 12, 1836 is the day North and South Akron combined to create the City of Akron. It was a day when the communities pulled together for a common goal. “We trust the community spirit will embrace our new venture and cheer us on as we get off the ground.” A percentage of the business will be available for community members in the future, allowing the community to take pride in ownership of their team.

The Rubber City Football Club plans to compete in the 1st division of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA.) NISA is a new, 3rd tier professional league that plans to become a 1st division alternative to Major League Soccer.

Joshua Austin attended the University of Akron, and has worked as a professional musician, and most recently as a journalist for pop-culture website Mind Equals Blown and sports media site Cage Pages. Team Vice-president Tyler Novak is currently a masters student at the University of Akron, and an employee of Lockheed Martin. Novak will also act as the Head Scout for the team.

Tropicana Field site planning begins in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - St. Petersburg is coming up with a plan for redeveloping the land where Tropicana Field sits if the Tampa Bay Rays go through with their plan to move to Tampa.

Alan DeLisle, the city development administrator, says his team is now in phase two of redeveloping the Tropicana Field site, but their plan no longer includes a new baseball stadium. They want to make the 80 acres of land a major hub for technology and university research jobs.

DeLisle compares it to a tech park.

“It’s about using that site to add value and to get us into the economy that is creating the most jobs today,” he said.

He says the city doesn’t want to interfere with the growth already happening downtown but says you can also expect retail, hotels and a convention space in the plan.

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman says it’s very likely the Rays could pull out of their Ybor City plans, but if they don’t, St. Pete is prepared to move on without them.
