The All Whites may well have played a part in paving the way for a Major League Soccer franchise in Tennessee.

Winston Reid's New Zealand team lost 2-1 to Mexico in a free-flowing game before 40,287 fans at Nashville's Nissan Stadium - home to a Beyonce concert a week before.

It was the second highest football crowd at the home field of the National Football League's Tennessee Titans, eclipsed by the 44,825 turnout for the United States-Guatemala game there last year.
