Wish it said Louisville, but alas...

Has it been confirmed the Suncoast Invitational is coming back next year? I remember in the last game program of last season, Bill made mention of it in his note to the fans. I don't recall seeing anything about it in this year's program (although idk if I actually picked up a program that night). I also would have figured it would be mentioned in the email he sent out this morning.

Don't get me wrong, I hope and pray it comes back because it was a great value and a fun way to kill a Saturday after football is long since over. But I just haven't heard anything yet, at all...

"David Beckham moves closer to finalizing MLS move to Miami." How many times have you read that headline over the past three years? We'll believe it when we see it. We've lost count of the number of news conferences in which Beckham and random apparently rich/powerful people have held a soccer ball while wearing suits and talking about soccer coming to Miami.

Stop telling us about the labor pains and show us the baby already. We could have started our own soccer league filled with just Miami teams by now.

David Beckham Accidentally Pranks Miami

As most of you are probably aware, David Beckham has been trying to bring an MLS franchise to Miami for some time now. And on Sunday, when he made an Instagram post with the caption “Big things are coming Monday,” people near South Beach were understandably excited. Unfortunately for them, the big announcement was simply about a relaunch of an Adidas cleat that Beckham used to wear back in the day. It was further confirmed that no announcement about a Miami MLS franchise would be forthcoming on Monday. So that’s awkward.

A message from Rowdies Chairman and CEO Bill Edwards:

This past Saturday night I was very impressed and thankful for all the fans who came out in the rain for our semifinal match. It rained all day – but still more than 5,000 fans bought tickets and actually came out to the stadium. Everyone was in rain gear – including me – but after a while no one seemed to notice that it was still raining. That is a true test of a real fan!

So I want to thank everyone that, like me, sat in the rain and cheered on our team in their fight against the defending USL Champions. It took two hours of non-stop action before the Red Bulls II finally stopped our attacks and ultimately won the match. But it was the most exciting game I’ve ever witnessed.

I’m sure like you, I was so very proud of our team. They left it all out on the pitch. They never quit, and they fought like true champions.

I’ve only had this club a few years, but in that short time the team and fans have grown beyond compare, and we will continue to grow as your professional soccer team right here in St. Petersburg, FL.

Thank you to our sponsors for supporting our efforts – we couldn’t do it without you! Please keep supporting us as we build on the momentum of a successful 2017 season.

And finally I also want to thank our coaches, players, staff and especially our FANS for their unwavering support.
