Rowdies Gear! (self.TampaBayRowdies)

Hello friends

I'm on the hunt for a new Rowdies kit, as my current one is the black one from 2012. Do they normally do a post-season sale on the official team store ($80 is a lot for an "old" kit)? Is there somewhere else I could get one online? I'm based in the UK if that matters.

Joe Cole’s productive stint in France is the wrong lesson for young English talent

Joe Cole has played for some big clubs. In the Premier League, he’s made 126 appearances for West Ham United, and 182 for Chelsea. But if you were asked which club the former England man made his third-most appearances for, would you have guessed his current club, the Tampa Bay Rowdies?

Certainly others should follow that lead. It may well be that they, like Burke, can’t settle, and it might be, like Barton, they’re asked to come back. But looking at Cole, who played 12 times for Aston Villa and 22 times for Coventry City upon returning to England before joining the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the lower leagues in the States, you get the feeling that his 32 league games in one season in France was the most productive time of his career post-Chelsea.

Orlando City linked to Robinho, a loan move for Monica, an ex-Lion is impressed by Northern Ireland, Kyle Martino enters USSF presidency race, and more.

Paterson Impressed by Northern Ireland’s Form

Ex-Orlando City player Martin Paterson has said that he is impressed with Northern Ireland’s recent form, which has seen them advance to the knockout stage of Euro 2016, and is preparing for a two-legged playoff that will see the winner qualify for the 2018 World Cup. Paterson, who made four appearances for the Lions during an injury-plagued loan stint in 2015, scored a goal for his national side in 2013 that arguably saved manager Michael O’Neill’s job, and has enabled him to guide the team to their successes. Currently playing with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Paterson has not yet ruled out a return to the international stage with Northern Ireland, but at the moment is giving the team his full support.

Vinoy parking garage gets the go-ahead

St. Petersburg voters approved a parking garage at the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club as part of the luxury hotel’s $50 million renovation plans.

A referendum asking voters for the OK to go ahead with the project passed with 63 percent of the vote on Tuesday. The measure appeared on the ballot alongside the city’s mayoral and City Council races.

The planned garage will be one story with eight tennis courts on the roof. It will be built immediately behind the hotel where eight existing tennis courts are located.

A 1984 city charter requires construction on historic locations in downtown St. Pete to receive voter approval. A similar rule forced the Tampa Bay Rowdies to put its renovation plans on the downtown waterfront before voters, which was successful.

Rick Kriseman Re-Elected St. Petersburg Mayor

Kriseman won re-election Tuesday night, getting 51.6 percent of the vote.

It also was a race that divided the city's sports teams, with the Tampa Bay Rays favoring and contributing to Kriseman and the Tampa Bay Rowdies soccer team supporting Baker. The former mayor worked for Rowdies owner Bill Edwards. Both candidates said they thought the city could support two sports teams.
