David Beckham's Miami MLS team could be delayed until 2019 - report

David Beckham's planned MLS team in Miami, which the league has maintained could debut in 2018, might not arrive until 2019, SI.com reported on Tuesday.

Beckham and his partners still haven't finalized a deal for a proposed stadium in Miami's Overtown neighborhood, and the group is also still negotiating with an additional investor.

Last March, the ex-Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy midfielder's ownership group, Miami Beckham United, purchased land in Overtown on which to build a stadium, but still need to acquire more.

MBU is comprised of Beckham, his agent Simon Fuller, and businessmen Marcelo Claure and Tim Leiweke, who brought Beckham to the Galaxy in 2007.

Tuesday marked 1,000 days since Beckham's Miami plan was announced.

LAFC is slated to join MLS in 2018 after Atlanta United and Minnesota United become the league's 21st and 22nd clubs next year.
