Rowdies Home Attendance Thread - Game 16 vs. Bethlehem Steel FC [9/21]
Finally one back over 5k. It definitely felt good in Al Lang last night... scoring 6 beautiful goals also helped lol! Hopefully we can finish out the season strong and get that average back up! I bet with the prices getting slashed for next season we can finally hit a 6k average for the season!
Back in the 5k range for our penultimate match of the season. Weather was absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately the Rays had an incredibly important game vs. the Red Sox at the exact same time (they drew 18,179). That's one thing that I hope changes now with Steinberg in his second year of ownership. The MLB schedule for 2020 is done...it was released on August 12. As much as we can avoid having games on the same day (or stagger them into cross-town doubleheaders), the better. Was probably too late to do this last year, but I hope we see it next year.
One match left. It's traditionally been a sellout for us (though it wasn't last year). It seems like ticket staff and marketing has their eyes on next year, but hopefully we'll end the season (and fingers crossed for the playoffs) on a good note.
I’ll take 5500. The supporters section SOUNDED and felt like a playoff game, but the rest of ALS didn’t look like 5513.

Giving away two tickets for tonight
Girlfriend and I had other plans pop up earlier in the day, and we don't like to leave our pup in his penn for too long on weekend days. We'll be downtown walking with the dog, which means we can't go to the game.
I'd rather have two people in seats than leave them empty!

J King's Corner (Week 29) OTT v TBR 1-0
A Lineup Doomed to Draw- Collins ran out a Rowdies team that had a fair amount of backups and depth players in the lineup. The 0-0 result appeared to be the ideal play for the Rowdies. The Rowdies top 3 goalscorers this season were on the bench. Poku is probably the best offensive playmaker aside Fernandes and Johnson but by himself, he's not a one man army without support, no player in soccer is. The only real scoring threat the Rowdies put on the field was the veteran Mkosana and he hasn't gotten that many minutes. This was a lineup with the returning Taku who just never has a significant impact on the game, Siaj struggles to get on the ball and finish, and Kone is just not a good option for a 3-man backline. This game looked mostly like what I expected it to look like. The possession never looked that great, there wasn't any crisp counterattacking, and nothing really dangerous until the good players came in for the last 10 minutes.
Number of the Game- 3. The Rowdies had 3 shots. None of them were on target. That's as bad as it gets.
The Penalty Decision- I don't know man. My initial thought was surprise when the ref didn't call it. The Rowdies weren't looking all that great defending in the box all game long. I never got a good third or fourth look at the replay and I was really 50/50 on it. It could've been too soft but it also could've been a penalty. It's obviously imperative that the decision be made timely and obvious because it makes the referees look bad, so that's definitely on them. But I'm not really disappointed or dismayed by the call. It was more representative of the game the Rowdies played to that point, just sloppy.
Fatigue vs Depth- The Rowdies have reached a stretch in this season where the injuries that have mounted up has cost a lot on the fatigue of the team's best players, and the rest of the depth just aren't playing at the level of the starters. Collins is in a real predicament here. Send out your tired better players, or run out your depth guys that are defensive liabilities and lack offensive talent.
Can the Boys in Green Hulk Up- This is really the ultimate question as the Rowdies enter into playoff mode. When the whistle blows for their first playoff matchup, are the Rowdies going to be back in championship contender form? There's no doubt in my mind that the talent is there. Johnson, Fernandes, and Poku are all fantastic offensive playmakers. They've gifting Guenzatti a career season and Tejada a marquis rookie year. Add in a healthy Tinari or Ekra and there's so a lot of ways for the Rowdies to win the midfield. The questions on the right side will persist of whether Johnson and Morad can stop wingers from torching them, but that's really the one major hole on this team that's dangerous when rolling on all cylinders.
Something to Look for in Big Games- There are a few players excelling at their primary position that don't excel in their secondary positions. This is mostly directed at Richards and Tejada being swung out as wingers. They don't have the full skill set to be truly dangerous from those positions just yet. They're young and still developing their playmaking and passing abilities. I would hope that when playing in the playoffs they are playing their natural positions.
