First Announced Rays/Rowdies MLB/USL Doubleheader, Combined Ticket Package Available

I don’t think many people will buy it, but still a super cool move to get more rays fans into the rowdies and vise versa. Rays up and COYR today and tonight tho!!!!

Yeah...I think it’s cool. The timing is short, but otherwise I think it’s a smart cross promotion idea.

Im going to do it but not buy the package since I already got some Rays tickets in my Flex Pack and want to sit in the bleachers with the the Mob at the Rowdies match. It's a good package, tho.

They wouldn't even be batting an eye at us if the Ray's attendance wasn't so abysmal right now.

Any benefit to current Rowdies season ticket holders?

Yes we lost, but put the shit tifo away...

Yes it was a rough game but we had some good shots on goal that didn’t go in. A foot off on about three shots does not mean we are shit. Our defense and Mcarthy had a rough night but we are not shit.

I know some one will say “it was for the refs” but the fucking refs aren’t looking at us. Neal is. Our boys are. They aren’t shit. Put that shit the fuck away.

Rowdies post game press conference 1-3 North Carolina FC

Good questions in that mini-presser.

We got burned on the counter a couple of times, we were close to putting away more goals, and there was some questions calls. We didn’t get played off the pitch last night. Tough stretch moving forward, hopefully we can turn it around next week.

Absolutely. Stats are stats, and momma said their be nights like this. Sooooo many close calls that just didn't find the net.

There will always be questionable calls. But enough of them went lhr way that I didn't question it.

As I examined to a good friend, they got up on us early and that forced us to turn up the press and leave our flank open. This is helps explain the unbalanced shot differntial. But man, NC just played the counter well.

I was way more pissed leaving the Lousiville and Loudoun matches than last night after this result. It was still a good night. The loss was coming sooner or later. Looking forward to Saturday! ARGGGGG IT BE SONS OF PIRATES NIGHT MATEYS!

J King's Corner (Week 13) BHM v TBR 0-2

No Fernandes, No Problem- There are quite a few names that have become major fixtures in every Rowdies lineup in USL play this season. Fernandes has namely been one of the most important as the offense has more often than not been played through him on the left side. This became especially noticeable as Tinari became a fixture at the attacking midfielder spot. Without Fernandes in the lineup for Birmingham, I was curious to see how the Rowdies offense would adjust, and Johnson was able to fill in well on the right side.

Hammer Down- There were two players that while they might not have had many big highlight plays, their play against Birmingham was encouraging but only in context. Najem and Oduro had really good games but it had more to say about the competition. Oduro was able to rack up a ton of steals and force turnovers but Birmingham really couldn't make many good touches or passes for large stretches of the game. The Rowdies were in control offensively and defensively the whole game with the only a couple lapses that led to a penalty and a couple of shots on goal.

McCarthy Investment- The McCarthy investment continues to pay off as it'd be hard to deny him the title of best keeper in the USL. Spending his time as a Philly backup hasn't softened his will and hunger to be an MLS starting quality keeper. McCarthy has left USL strikers begging for answers as he continues to save goals that most USL keepers can't.

Johnson shows his potential- Johnson wasn't ripping his way through Birmingham's back line but when the ball was played to him he showed his ability to get in dangerous positions and make good passes. Both goals went through Johnson. He played the ball to Tinari who got the assist to Guenzatti, and then Johnson got his own assist on the pass to Tinari. Najem was involved in both these plays with great long ball passes. Birmingham rarely pressured Najem which is a big mistake because he doesn't pass or dribble well while pressed. Give Najem time and space to play the ball where and when he wants and he can put an accurate pass or run together.

Commander Collins- Most any team in sports will talk about their desire to win, but then when it matters most you don't see the effort. Sometimes it's because a team is outskilled or outmanned by better competition. But even in situations where a team has better quality players, upsets are usually the result of a team overachieving and outworking and hustling their opponents. Often this is in the form of physicality and a higher level of fitness. These are the traits that make up the 2019 Rowdies. This is not a team predicated on individuals with world-class talent. It could be argued that there's no single one great player on the Rowdies outside of McCarthy. You may be able to argue for Diakite being on an MLS team or Norwegian first league team. There are guys with some potential like an Andrew Tinari or Malik Johnson but they aren't superstar players at this current juncture. This is a team molded within Collins image which was always the question when he was hired, what does Collins intend to build? We are seeing something really truly special through 13 games. Not just from Collins, but all the coaching staff to instill the chemistry between the Rowdies team as a whole. For all the players to buy into just being grounded in the fundamentals. The big question going forward for Collins and company, is what is the next step?

McCarthy not getting nominated for the SOTW is ridiculous...... IMO

Saving a penalty is always crazy but the save where he’s falling into his goal was unreal.

Really liking what I've seen of Johnson so far. He has pace and seems a decent dribbler. We have decent depth at that position considering we also have Barry, Fernandes and to a lesser extent Najem who all have great attacking attributes.

The Las Vegas City Council took a step toward a new soccer stadium Wednesday by entering into a 180-day negotiating agreement with The Renaissance Companies Inc., which is interested in redeveloping Cashman Center.

The agreement will jumpstart discussions about luring a Major League Soccer franchise to Las Vegas, building a new stadium and redeveloping the 62 acres around it. Council members unanimously approved the negotiating agreement during a meeting Wednesday. Renaissance is a Nevada-based project manager and financial structuring adviser.

The Rowdies had another great week passing the ball as more of their mistakes came from dribbling turnovers. This was also a really good game for the Rowdies positionally where the offense was making quality onside runs and the defense was defending crosses into the box and cutting off passing lanes especially well. It can't be lost in translation however for as well as the Rowdies played, McCarthy had a penalty save and two more really big saves that if he doesn't make them, Birmingham win this game.

I continue to be impressed with Steinberger's ability to be a quality attacking midfielder. It has me torn because Tinari and Steinberger post very similar numbers in terms of value. Tinari has a +26 in passing on the season which is only 2nd to Fernandes' +32. We've also seen Poku in limited action come in and be very strong so he adds another wrinkle to a loaded attacking midfield.

I wish I would've had this idea last year to track the player values for guys like Cole, Schafer, Hristov, and especially Morrell since I went to bat for him needing more starts. Would Morrell be the big negative in dribbling into turnovers that many Rowdies fans lambast him for? The answer is probably. The only question is could he beat enough defenders and get enough good touches to make up for it and have the numbers somewhat even out. I ask this question because Tejada is quietly rising in the dribbling turnovers which was a corner originally owned by Fernandes. Tejada is a -12 dribbling and most of it is getting dispossessed. It's a part of his game that will have to develop if he wants to become a great attacking player. Creating separation, beating defenders on the ball, these are critical skills for a small statured centre-forward.

I keep looking at the defending numbers and thinking maybe I was too lenient in the beginning giving out defensive points for routine plays but at the same time, the Rowdies have only given up 4 goals all season, their defensive numbers should probably be ridiculous. The Rowdies have yet to have a game under +10 defensive points.
