I saw the green retro logo shirt in the Walmart at 19 & Roosevelt in Clearwater/Largo yesterday

That's cool. I took my son to a Rowdies game and he loved it. We were watching Colombia play in the Copa America, and he starts yelling, "Rowdies! Rowdies!" I didn't have the heart to tell him they weren't playing.

Can't say enough about Tejada! I've always believed that opportunities for goals come out of pressing and creating chaos. Collins seems to be making full use of this.

Our defense remains stout.

What a combination and final move by Johnson! It's nice to see the gang get cofindent and creative in the latter half of matches. Lucky brings this to the team, kinda surprised we didn't see him.

Anyone have info on todays Goalie switch?

For some time now the Tampa Bay Rowdies have been on top of the USLC Eastern Conference, but with multiple games in hand over other teams, in particular now, Indy Eleven with two games in hand; Indy could jump 1 point ahead of the Rowdies if they win both of those games in hand, and it's been like this every week I've checked now for a few weeks; no idea when Indy are going to catch up with the Rowdies to even the games played, and I am too lazy to look up the remaining schedule, but interesting to watch anyway; best thing the Rowdies can do is keep winning, of course.

Speaking of which, here's some nice goals from the Swope Park Rangers 1-3 Tampa Bay Rowdies match yesterday; @0:16 minutes, nice buildup resulting in a bad clearance from the Rangers and a cross from #7 Yann Ekra and a header goal by #17 Juan Tejada; and @2:42 minutes, clever back heel from #13 Sebastian Guenzatti to #14 Malik Johnson, who gives a nice little zig-zag dribble inside the box & a confident finishing shot slotted in past the goalkeeper.

Tejada was an almost accidental discovery by the Rowdies; he was playing college footy in St. Pete for a few years without the Rowdies even being aware of him, apparently (Bill Edwards didn't put much money into scouting, it seems); it took the Lakeland Tropics to discover Tejada and make the Rowdies aware of him; he's young enough and good enough that I'm unsure how long he's going to be with the Rowdies. Such are the perils of lower league soccer fandom.

So after reviewing the tape of the Rowdies and Ottawa game, there were two performances that especially jumped out to me.

Leo Fernandes had his worst performances in his return to the lineup coming off of injury. This may beg the question was he feeling any discomfort or did he just have an off night? He still managed to pass the ball well but he wasn't as productive as he usually was defensively and he was getting taken off the ball all night long. Fernandes had a -8 in dribbling.

When Johnson came in relief, Johnson nearly usurped his season-high total 8 points last weekend with 7 points in 23 minutes. Johnson's 7 led the team as 4 of it came from passes mostly to do with his chance creation. Most of the plays I charted in the final 15 minutes of the match were between Morad and Johnson because the offense continued to go through Johnson. Johnson was taking on Ottawa's tired legs and benefitted greatly from that. Johnson is a superb super sub option.

I found it interesting that Richards was the Rowdie that won a midseason award as best young player at midseason. While he has played the most minutes of any of the field players, his performances can be wildly inconsistent which you can see in my value scores from match to match. These are Richards last 5 value scores starting with most recent: -4, 0, -3, -3, -2. The three games before that he had 6, 7, and 2. So if that tells you anything, Richards is a high ceiling and low floor player early in his career. It's what you'd expect from a 20-year-old left back who plays with pace more than physicality. Most of his negative points come from his passing which he's -12 on the season. He's second lowest on the team. Further below him is Oduro at -17.
