Miami could rezone Overtown site for 15-story workforce housing project

A property in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood could be rezoned for the development of a workforce housing project.

On Oct. 18, the city’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board will consider the application to rezone the 24,024-square-foot site at 1136 and 1146 N.W. 8th Ave. plus 1145 and 1157 N.W. 11th Street Road from T6-8-L to T6-12-L. This would increase both its height and density. The developer would obtain additional density by pledging some of the units as workforce housing.

The site is located a few blocks west of the Culmer Metorail station in the Highland Park section of Overtown. The site of the planned Miami Beckham United MLS stadium is about four blocks to the northeast.
