ST. LOUIS  (KMOV.com) – An organization working to bring Major League Soccer to St. Louis released new renderings of a proposed stadium near St. Louis University.

Tuesday night, The Foundry St. Louis held a public forum to garner input and interest from the community into their proposal for a stadium.

The 13 acre lot at Chouteau and Grand sits vacant, but renderings propose a modern, open air stadium to fill the spot.

“It’s in between two major highways 40 and 44, also close to a Metrolink stop and Grand Ave bus route is one of the busiest in the city. One of the things Major League Soccer is big with is millennials and we think they’ll embrace the fact it will be easy to get to,” said Dan Cordes, CEO of the Foundry St. Louis.

But the other think the MLS wants is a downtown stadium.

That’s why the other group, MLS2STL, is working to bring a team is looking at the downtown corridor.

“There are a few potential sites where and MLS stadium could work in our downtown,” explained Jim Woodcock, a spokesperson for MLS2STL. It’s a group made up of big names including the owners of the Blues and the Cardinals.

St. Louis City sources confirm to News4 they are looking at acquiring property near Union Station. The city is working with MoDOT to possibly purchase 30 acres located in the northeast quadrant of I-64 and 22nd street for a potential stadium
